Painting Christchurch since 1985
I left Christchurch Boys' High School in 1985 and went straight into painting. I served my apprenticeship with John Watkins Limited and stayed on with them for another ten years, learning the trade properly from people who took pride in it. After a spell being self employed, I established Mason Wairau Painters as a company in 2012.
In the years since, I have painted just about everything Canterbury has to offer, from family homes and rental properties to schools, new builds and commercial sites. Through to the end of 2017 I was an EQC accredited main contractor, ranked inside the top thirty, working on earthquake and insurance damaged properties right across the city. That period taught me how to manage complex jobs, keep clients informed, and get the details right under pressure.
How I work
Communication is at the heart of everything I do. Every job is professional and tailored to what the client actually needs, and I am on site doing the work, not just quoting it. That means the person who gives you the price is the person who delivers the finish.
I am a Dulux accredited painter and an active Site Safe member, and I am competent with harness and rope work, elevated work platforms and knuckle booms. That training is what lets me take on roof painting safely and without the cost of scaffold, and it keeps every site safe and tidy.
